- Making a site easy for visitors, even web novices, to understand and use,
is usability. A usable site has a clean, easy-to-read design, logically
arranged pages, and simple navigation.
- Going further to take into account the special needs of many people who
use the web is accessibility. Many sites are inaccessible to people
with disabilities because the design is incompatible with their browsers.
- Meeting web standards means designing
pages so that they conform to W3C standards. The goal is to ensure that all
the programs used to view the web will be able to display the site. When web
standards become the norm, usable and accessible sites will be easier to achieve,
because browsers will all be able to display sites consistently.
